Growth Usually Feels Uncomfortable First

If you’re trying to get better at something, there is usually a period where you don’t feel very good at it.

That’s normal.

The first referral ask may feel awkward.

Your first life conversation may not sound the way you wanted.

Your first role-play in front of the team may make you uncomfortable.

You might get an objection and completely forget the response you practiced five minutes earlier.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be doing it.

It means you’re learning.

I think sometimes people judge themselves too quickly during that stage.

“I’m not good at this.”

Of course you’re not good at it yet.

You just started.

Give yourself the opportunity to get the repetitions.

Ask for feedback.

Try again.

What feels uncomfortable today can become something you don’t even think twice about six months from now.

But you have to stay in it long enough to get there.

Growth doesn’t always feel like growth while it’s happening.

Sometimes it just feels uncomfortable.

Keep going.

That may be exactly where you’re supposed to be.
