Stop Expecting New Hires to Figure It Out
When you hire someone new, it’s easy to forget how overwhelming those first few weeks can be.
We expect them to learn the systems, understand insurance products, talk to customers, handle objections, and somehow become productive at the same time.
But how much direction are we actually giving them?
One thing we’ve focused on in our agency is creating a structured onboarding process.
What should someone learn in their first week? What should they be practicing? Who is responsible for coaching them? How do we know they’re making progress?
I believe new hires need more than access to training videos and someone telling them to ask questions.
They need a clear roadmap, opportunities to practice, and consistent feedback.
The better we prepare our people in the beginning, the better opportunity we give them to succeed long-term.
