Confidence Comes From Practice, Not Just Experience
I see this with new team members all the time.
They’re nervous about calling customers, asking questions, or handling objections.
And I understand why. Nobody wants to sound like they don’t know what they’re talking about.
But here’s something I believe: confidence doesn’t come from waiting until you feel ready.
It comes from preparation and repetition.
That’s why role-playing and practicing real customer conversations are so important.
Practice how to open a conversation. Practice asking follow-up questions. Practice what to say when someone tells you the price is too high.
And when someone struggles, don’t just tell them to be more confident. Help them develop the skills they’re missing.
If we want our people to become better communicators, we have to give them opportunities to practice before they’re sitting in front of a customer.
